Fill a job's SWMS from your registers
Risk ratings, licence boxes and the SDS box filled in from HR & Safety.
What this is for
A job's SWMS used to leave the ratings and qualification boxes for you to fill in by hand. On Scale, the risk register fills in each hazard's rating before and after controls, the install crew's current licences tick the qualification boxes, and the safety data sheet box ticks itself when a chemical on the job has a sheet on file.

On the job's SWMS page
- SWMS Draft
- The job number and name come from the job. The hazards, controls, PPE, plant and emergency steps are yours to work out for the job and site, with a writing guide beside the form. Hazards and controls go one per line; press Save SWMS.
- Ratings from the risk register
- One row per hazard line, showing the rating it will print or No match.
- Match by name · a risk from the list
- Leave it on Match by name and a risk with the same words is used, or pick the risk yourself.
- Save the matches
- Saves them. The SWMS prints these ratings from then on.
Before you start
- Your shop is on Scale and has risks in the register.
- Save the job's SWMS with its hazards first.
Step by step
- 1
Open the job, then the SWMS from More → SWMS draft, or Dispatch → Site documents → Open SWMS →.

Write the hazards one per line and press Save SWMS.

Under Ratings from the risk register, check each hazard. Pick the right risk for any that show No match, then press Save the matches.
- 4
Open or download the SWMS PDF. The initial and residual ratings print from each matched risk.
Tips & gotchas
- A risk with no rating after controls prints its before rating in both places, so the SWMS never claims controls lowered it.
- Qualification boxes tick when someone on the job's install steps holds that licence, checked by HR and current on the day. Unchecked uploads don't count.
- The SDS box ticks when a material on the job is linked to a chemical with a sheet on file.
- Plant, hazard reports and the register's controls don't feed the SWMS. Its Control Measures still come from the lines you write.
