Help/Quoting/Change the wording on a sent quote

Change the wording on a sent quote

Fix a sign's name or description after the quote has gone, without a new revision.

What this is for

Customers often ask for small wording changes before they order, like adding an S to Toilets. Once a quote is sent its pricing is locked, but each line's name and description can still be changed on the quote page. The price, quantity and size stay as they were; changing those still needs a new revision.

The quote page

Items · Show all breakdowns
Each line reads like the printed quote: name, quantity, size, description and line total. Show all breakdowns opens every line's costed parts at once; Hide all breakdowns closes them. Sign OS remembers your choice on this computer.
Show breakdown
Beside a line's total. Opens or closes that one line's parts and their sell prices.
Change name or description
Under a line on a sent quote. Opens the line's name and description to change. The price, quantity and size are not in the box and do not move.
Job sheet wording
Only shown when a line's workshop wording says something different from the customer's. Otherwise it follows the description you change.
Send the updated quote?
Shown after you save. Email PDF sends the customer the new version; Not now leaves it.

Before you start

  • •The quote is Sent. A draft is changed in the quote builder; an accepted quote is changed on its job.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open the quote from the Quotes list. Each line shows as it does on the printed quote, so you can read it through with the customer.

  2. 2

Under the line, press Change name or description.

  3. 3

Change the name, the description, or both, then press Save. If the old name is a line of its own in the description, it changes to the new name as well.

  4. 4

The customer has the earlier version, so Sign OS asks whether to send the updated quote. Press Email PDF to check the address and send it, or Not now if they are about to accept.

  5. 5

If the customer also wants a different price, quantity or size, use Create new revision instead.

Tips & gotchas

  • →The quote PDF always prints the latest wording, and accepting the quote carries it onto the job and the job sheet.
  • →Every change is kept on the quote's history with what the line said before and after, so you can see what the customer was first sent.
  • →Once the quote is accepted, change the wording on the job: Ordered tab, Change name or description on the line.
