Put product choices into quote and job-sheet wording

Print the selected stock, finish or size in the right words.

What this is for

The product supplies the wording on a quote and on the workshop’s job sheet. Variables fill in the sizes and choices from that line, while the two descriptions can use different words.

Before you start

  • •The product’s questions and choices have been set up.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open the product and Customer and jobsheet display.

  2. 2

Write the customer description and, separately, the job-sheet description.

  3. 3

Use Insert variable and pick Choice · followed by the question name. A Stock question supplies {{stock}}; Finished size supplies {{finished_size}}.

  4. 4

Use the size variables for the actual measurements. A chosen standard-size name can differ from a custom size the customer typed.

  5. 5

Save the product, then add it to a draft quote. Pick different choices and check the generated descriptions and PDF.

Tips & gotchas

  • →A question with several choices selected reads as a list. An unanswered question contributes no wording.
  • →Built-in variables and your own wording fields win if names clash. Give questions distinct names.
  • →Change the wording on an existing quote or job itself when needed; saving a product is not a resend of earlier paperwork.
