Help/Jobs/Handle variations & changes

Handle variations & changes

Change a job after it starts and keep the pricing honest.

What this is for

Jobs change — the customer adds a panel, the scope grows. A variation records the change and re-prices it, so the extra work is captured and billed instead of quietly eating your margin.

Handle variations & changes — the screen in Sign OS

Step by step

  1. 1

Open the job that has changed and go to the Accounts tab.

  2. 2

Under Variations, click Add variation and describe the extra or changed work.

  3. 3

It is priced the same way as a quote line, and added to the job's value.

  4. 4

Approve the variation so it flows into the job's money side.

Tips & gotchas

  • →Record variations as they happen — a change captured now is a change you get paid for later.
  • →Adding a SIGN to a live job is done on the Ordered tab instead, which raises the variation for you and also puts the sign on the floor and on the job sheet. Use this screen for a change that is only money, like a rush fee.
