Set labour rates per department
Tell Sign OS what an hour of each department costs.
What this is for
A labour rate is what one hour of a department's time costs you. Once set, any time a product recipe uses that department, the labour prices itself into the quote — no mental maths, no guessing.

Before you start
- You have created your departments first.
Step by step
- 1
Go to Settings → Departments and click a department to open it, then open its Labour rates tab.
- 2
Set the Hourly rate (charge-out) — what you charge for one hour of that department's work.
- 3
Click Save labour rates, and repeat for each department.
- 4
From now on, any recipe step that uses this department adds the right labour cost automatically.
Tips & gotchas
- Base the rate on your true cost of an hour — wages plus your on-costs — not just the wage. Your margin is added on top later.
- Labour rates and machine rates are separate on purpose: labour is the person, machine time is the equipment. A step can use both.
