Supplying your own artwork
What file formats can I send?
PDF and JPEG are best. For anything else, save it as EPS or JPEG with bleed and crop marks, and tell us the finished size.
What resolution should it be?
Save your files at 300 ppi, at the final printed size. We can make artwork smaller, but enlarging it loses detail and it can print blurry or pixelated.
CMYK or RGB?
CMYK. Print always uses CMYK inks, and converting from RGB can change your colours noticeably. Designing in CMYK gives you a truer preview.
What is bleed and do I need it?
Bleed is extra artwork past the edge so the trim is clean. Add 3mm on every side. If there is no bleed, include crop marks 5mm long and 3mm outside the page.
How should I supply a booklet?
Send the front and back covers as separate files and all pages in order. Keep text at least 5mm in from the trimmed edge, and don't send imposed pages or printer's pairs.
Anything to watch with Word or Publisher files?
Set spot colours correctly and avoid RGB colours, as they can't be printed accurately. Embed fonts when you make the PDF.
